Set one year after the start of Avala Book 3, a stage is set for a new enemy to shows its face for the first time. As the new academy to train Avalans is preparing to welcome its first students, an accident puts Avala in contact with something familiar, yet wrong in so many ways. This new enemy looks like them, but is twisted on the inside. Yet with a new enemy, comes new allies, and new challenges.

When this enemy starts an invasion into Republic Territory, Avala and her friends must fight for their lives, and their freedoms. However Avala soon learns that not every slave desires freedom, and not everyone freed will become her friend. However the day is saved by the actions of Avala, and the army retreats.

It is then that the first real celebration happens in a long time. The party of the ages is thrown, and people from all over come to enjoy themselves. But Avala's arch nemesis will not let the party go undisturbed, and attack in the midst of the celebrations.

This is the fourth installment in Avala's life long journey to become one of the Spirits of the Mindscapes.
