The Cycle of Yvan, 29th cycle of the Month of the Great Sea, 1932 years after Creation / Sunday, 8th of February 6099
It was so nice to hunt again. But now I have to dread going back to work tomorrow. I’ve thought about quitting my job many times over this weekend, but I know better. The Republic needs me, no matter what I might feel about it. Also, what would I do for a living? Living the Athakarin lifestyle is not well paying, and there is no way I can go back to my life in Childya. In fact, the Yajixa no doubt know my face by now. If they saw me on Evelon II, they’d kill me. I was partially responsible for the death of Yvan. I couldn’t even defect at this point, not that the Republic would ever allow that. I’d be court marshalled before I ever got a chance to do that.
I have thought about possibly getting facial reconstruction to permanently become looking like an Athakarin, and having my face changed so I can go back to Childya. But I’d have to start over from scratch, a recent report says my home was raided and all my wealth taken. And Childya Village has banned any new people moving in anyway. I could always live in another remote village, but still, without any wealth to start off with, I’d be living on the streets and die within a year. And if I was ever caught by the Yajixa, they wouldn’t except that I was no longer with the Republic, they’d kill me for simply not being a real Athakarin.
The more I think these thoughts, the more I realize my PUPSIS is getting to me in a bad way. That’s why I took tomorrow of to go see a councillor. I need help if I’m going to continue having a happy and productive life.
