I handed the cat over to the Republic Department of Research and Technology, claiming it was made of nanites. Commander Tina Sun laughed at me until she did scans on it, then completely lost her mind in excitement. However… the cat escaped after setting the place on fire. I’m pretty certain I’m imagining all this.
Also, when I got home from the research department, the cat was there again sitting in the lap of a black robed figure, who introduced themselves as Illusive. They are a powerful business person from Earth who owns one of the most advanced tech companies out there, Takayan Industries. Of course I’ve heard of Takayan Industries, who hasn’t! They make almost all of the Republic’s advanced tech these days. Apparently the cat is a prototype model of robotic nanite based life that I have been chosen to test out, for free. Illusive also assured me that they are not working for the Black Circle.
This has cleared up some confusion and makes me feel more at ease. But still, I’m pretty certain Illusive was hiding something from me. It's not that they had that tell. It was that I couldn’t read them in the slightest. I’m a spy, I was trained to read people through body language and speech patterns. Illusive was impossible to read. Who is this person?
Anyway, I’m keeping the cat. Might as well now. It's not like it needs my help surviving.
